We are currently in process of recording our second album. Drums have already been recorded and now it is time for bass and guitars. We had a few shows during the recording process, so we had make a new schedule and the release will be pushed farther into to future (spring, early summer). We are recording the album ourselves and we can go at it at our own paste. It must be done right.

We are also booking a 16-day european tour and we still have to fill a few gaps. Mainly 20th and 21st February in Germany and 2nd and 3rd March in Italy. If you can help, get in touch. We will try to return a favour when you ask us back.

It´s been some time since our previous blog, but we have been up to our ears in working on the songs for the new album. One more song and we will be done with this part of the process of making a record and serious woodsheding will follow to make ourselves ready for the prefect takes in the studio. We´ve had some great gigs in the last two months with our french friends Wank for peace and our good buddies In-sane, plus we played at a benefit show for the 13. brat webzine, which had played a big part at the beginning of our music »careers«.
We have no gigs planned until August when we will play at the biggest punk rock festival Slovenia has ever seen so far – Punk-rock holiday 1.1, along with such bands as Hot water music, Bouncing souls, Hog Hoggidy Hog, In-sane, Red five point star, Final approach and legends such as NOFX and Bad religion on other days. Don´t miss this punk-rock party of the year. We will keep you up-dated with our progress through the summer! See you soon!

Another tour is under the belt and I figured I would write a short blog to share nice times we had with our finnish friends. Yep, we were on tour together with an amazing punk-rock band Part Time Killer (ex-Flippin beans) from Finnland. We met two years ago in Czech Republic in town of Tabor where we had played a show together (plus One Hidden Frame – another punk-rock band you should definately check out). We were booked in the last minute and didn´t get any gas money, so the guys decided to help us out by buying our merch, for which we were really grateful. We stayed in contact throughout the following months and eventually got in contact and discused about doing a tour together. We would arrange a van and all the equipment and the guys would take a flight down from Finnland.

Part 1: 24th February: Wiener Neustadt

I woke up early and checked all the e-mails. Alex from PTK informed me that they would arrive in Vienna at 16:30 so we had to start quite early to pick them up. Unfortuntelly I also got a message that show in Pieffe Factory on monday was cancelled due to finacial problems that the venue had. We gathered at our rehearsing place and started organizing everything for the tour. We were really exicted, for these would be the first shows since we have been without our previous singer Jernej. We practiced a lot so we were confident about going on tour and afterall, playing infront of the live audience is where the band progresses the most. A day before we got a call from Dino who was lending us the van, that it had some serious problems and had to be fixed. He arranged a deal with a local mechanic who would fix it in the morning (it had a similar problem with a wheel bearing that we had last year on tour, when we had to pay 300 euros to repair it to be able to continue). Anyway, it was now 10´o clock when we should had been on our way already, but there was something more serious with a van, so we only got it at 1´o clock. We are already highly skilled at gear tetris in this van, so we loaded everything in in no time. I was just about to call Alex that we would be late, when I got a message from him that their flight was delayed, so we were back on track again.

First show of the tour was supposed to be in Bratislava, but it got cancelled in the last minute (this tour had many names, one of the them was The last minute tour). Thankfully we have the greatest friends ever over in Wiener Neustadt, guys from a band Soey who saved our asses and put on a show for us at their rehearsing place. We played there once before and we knew the show would kick ass. After 5, 6 hours of driving we arrived at the Vienna airport where me and Jani went to look for the Finns. It was so nice meeting those guys again and we looked forward to getting them know better and hang out for ten days. After we loaded in all their guitars and luggage we departed for Vienna, because we were running late. Not 10 minutes went buy and Eppu (PTK drummer) let one rip and we almost died of laughter. Who would have imagined that a fart could be such an ice breaker, because from that moment on it was like we had known each other for ages.

We arrived at the place where we would start the tour and again we got to meet our austrian friends and even Jak who organized a show for us in Bristol last year. As always there were many members from bands like Astpai and Rentokill there, which was nice. Both, us and PTK have been working on new songs, so we couldn´t wait to play and listen to what everyone has come up with. It was good to start the tour in a small, cosy place so that we got used to playing in front of the people in the new line-up. The gig, I thought went really well and the feedback from everyone gave us confidence that we are on the right track.

After a great evening with friends we went to Heino´s place where he cooked us a delicious pasta and we opened up the expensive whiskey that we brought to make a toast to a great start of the tour. Eppu got wasted and we farted too much…:) Antti won that round!

Part 2: 25th, 26th February: Valasske Mezirici, Ostrava

We woke up at around 9´o clock, took a shower and said goodbye to our good friend Heino. Next gig would be at Club Lira in Valasske Mezirici in Czech Republic, so we had a few miles to cover. We stopped for a quick breakfast and hit the czech highways. When we got close to the town where we were to play we saw that it was only 7 kilometres away from the club where we had problems with nazis two years ago when we had to escape before the shit really hit the fan. But we weren´t really worried and looked forward to meeting Stanley, the promoter who sorted out two shows for us. He has a very nice house/apartment, with a lot of room to accommodate bands, plus an entertainment room where we could play videogames etc. We also got to meet his parents who were the friendliest people ever. They gave us some local alcoholic beverage that was really strong and had a nice kick to it.

After a relaxing afternoon at Stanley´s place we jumped in the van and drove to Lira club. One of the Stanley´s friends had just opened a new tatoo studio and this concert was a kind of opening party so lots of people were expected to come. The venue was a big pub with a stage for bands, plus it had a huge plastic head of Eddie with glowing eyes, the Iron maiden mascot, which added some »coolness« points to the place…We set up the merch and started drinking the free beer while it lasted. There were supposed to be 4 bands playing that eveningt, R.A.F. + Thalidomide, but the latter canceled the show, so it could start later. R.A.F. played some old school punk, which wasn´t my cup of tea, but the guys were very friendly and nice to hang out with. We played second and I guess the show was OK, but the soundguy was clueless and it was way to loud, so PTK guys decided to adjust the volume when they got on the stage. They played here before and the crowd went crazy and sang along, so it was a great ending to the evening. There were more than 150 people at the show. Jani – Proffa (the name given to him by PTK guys) who volunteered to be the driver for the evening and had to stay sober said, that when we get back to Stanley´s place everyone should drink with him. Eppu, his »brother from another mother« didn´t need much convincing and so didn´t Neco and Jay, who indulged on whiskey and schaps when we got back…it was wild! I said »Ei välttämättä!« and went to bed, before it got worse.

We haven´t had to wake up early, because the next day we played at Chilv in Ostrava, 50 km away. I cooked some pasta for everybody and we spent the afternoon playing videogames and working on the song that we planned to do together with PTK, but we didn´t have any time to record…it will have to wait until next time. At this point we felt like we knew Alex, Eppu, Tero and Antti all our lives and we couldn´t wait to come back to Slovenia where we arranged a few surprises for them.

Stanley who was also the promoter of Ostrava show told us to follow him to the venue and we were there in no time. Chliv is amazing club, but we were told that the scene in Ostrava is dying quickly, so there were only 30-40 people there in the end. We set up the merch area and had a pizza and more czech beer. Soon the R.A.F. guys arrived and did the soundcheck. The stage felt great and we could hear everything perfectly. We played second and the show was great until some crazy girl who we met earlier decided that she would jump on the stage and start sreaming into our mics. When she wouldn´t stop screaming in the mic, Jani got to her and took her the mic, but she went to the other one took it from the stand and carried on. We were really pissed and after the song we said that she has get off and she finally left. That bitch was crazy! Next up were PTK and Eppu told her to fuck off straight away, so she left. They had a good set, but it would be even better if more people showed up. After the show we returned to Stanley´s house and went to bed after a few beers.

Part 3: 27th February: Prague

4th concert of the tour was in Prague at the legendary 007 club. We hit the road quite early just to have a head start. We have to thank Stanley again for the royal treatment we recived! Driving to Prague was quite tireing due to bumpy roads and a few drunken nights behind us. The promoter of the show was Thomas from the band Thalidomide. We were supposed to be playing with From plan to progress from UK, but Thomas called us that their van had broken down and that we had to get to the club as soon as possible to do the soundcheck. We were looking forward to seeing those guys play, hopefully we get a chance to see them somewhere soon.

When we got to the venue Thomas´ girlfriend Lenka prepared delicious vegan food for us and there was extra food left, prepared for the UK guys. After the dinner we set up all the gear on the stage and did the soundcheck. The soundguy was some old metalhead, who knew what he was doing and it was one of the smoothest and quickest soundchecks ever…plus the sound was great, so we knew that it would be a good show. Although it was Sunday, many people showed up and both us and PTK had a great show. We were really busy with the merch this night and sold more stuff than all previous days combined. We also met some older punk guy, who knew some legendary slovenian punk bands and asked us to get in touch with some of them, so that he could send them a few questions for the zine he is running. Satisfied with the outcome of the evening we went to Thomas´ place. Jani and Nejc decided to sleep in the van, just to be safe. We went to bed early knowing that we had a long way to drive next day.

Part 4: Days off in Vipava

Next few days we didn´t have any gigs, since the Pieffe Factory gig was cancelled but we didn´t mind. We returned to Vipava to Neco´s place, where we also have our rehearsing room. The drive from Prague was long and I was looking forward to my mom´s food and my comfy bed. PTK guys said that they haven´t been to Italy before and wanted to visit it, so Proffa said he could take them to Venice, since it is not far away.

After they guys returned from Venice the next day we took them to a local wine cellar/restaurant, which we planned to do in advance. We had a delicious dinner and fine local wine to go with it. It was a really enjoyable evening with good friends and tasty food. The night was still young and we went to our friend´s house where we drank his home made wine and tried the salami that he also made himself. We had a great time and even Antti got drunk, which, as we were told, happens once or twice a year. A good indicator that the party was awesome. We also taught PTK guys some slovenian cursing words, since we were already fluant in finnsh…vittu perkele saatana jumalauta! Unfortunately our finnish friends got to experience the typical wind in our area called Bora which was especially fierce these days, in fact there were gusts measured in excess of 200km/h and many rooftoops were uncovered and trees uprooted. We as locals are accustomed to such conditions and can light a cigarette and take a piss in such a wind, but for someone experiencing such conditions for the first time, it can be quite frightening and challenging. The time flew by fast and we said goodbye to everybody and went home.

But the evening wasn´t quite over yet…duh! Proffa got a call from Alex in the middle of the night that Eppu fell and landed on a petroleum heater, severly burning his hand in the process. First thing Eppu did was to photograph his hand, but Alex insisted that he goes to see a doctor right away. Jani took him to the emergency room where they treated him. I got to see the burn next day and it looked horrible…we were afraid that he won´t be able to play drums for the last three shows of the tour, so PTK started to practice an acoustic set.

The weather got even worse through the night with snow starting to fall and the wind had also intesified. We decided to cancel our scheduled trip to the Alps and stayed at Ukko metso´s (Neco´s) house where played Ice Hockey Nintendo game. Eppu kicekd everybody´s ass…next day we had to take him to the doctor to have his bandages replaced and his wound cleaned. At this point it looked bad and we were sure that we wouldn´t be able to play drums. Later Proffa and Jani took them to our hometown Ajdovscina and gave them a tour of our local historical sites. In the evening we had a few bears and wine and had a big Ice hockey tournament…that stupid game was addicting. Eppu won again! Ow, and Tero – Rock´n´rolla finally picked up the acoustic guitar and played something for us! Rock on!

Part 5: 3rd March: Ljubljana

We met again at Neco´s house where his mother cooked some traditional local dishes. I already ate at home, but I usually won´t resist good food, so I had some too. It was nice to jump back in our touring van and hit the road after a few days of eating and partying. This evening we played at Menza pri Koritu in Metelkova mesto…we got there early, so Peter, the promoter asked if we could wait a bit until their meeting at the venue was over. We went to the nearby hostel for a few beers and relaxed a bit, reflecting on the days that have past. An hour later we loaded in all the gear and did a soundcheck…it went well and I was looking forward to the gig.

PTK guys went to backstage and practiced their acoustic set…it sounded great, but Eppu said that he wanted to do the soundcheck to see if he could play. It was painful, but he was able to do it! Most of our friends study in Ljubljana so the venue was soon full of familiar faces. There weren´t as many people as I expected in the end, but to me this was among the best gigs of the tour. Both us and PTK played a good set and the audience was enjoying it. We also did a Satanic surfers cover – Evil with Eppu on vocals and the place just exploded! The sound engineer, who saw numerous band play here through the years told us that he was really impressed by our performance which gave us confidence that we are on the right path. We said goodbye to our friends and departed to Jani´s place where PTK guys would spend the night.

Part 6: 4th March: Ajdovscina

Next day we would play in Proffa´s and mine home-town at the club Baza where we occasionally organize gigs ourselves. This period is a time of festivities, and carnevals, with people wearing masks all marking an arrival of spring. I had to work in the afternoon so I got to the venue right in time to do the soundcheck. We didn´t plan to play on this day, because we planed to have a release party here later in the year, but we changed our minds in the last minute. There was one more band The Users who play a mixture of ska/reggae, but I didn´t catch their set later on.

We played first and there weren´t many people at the venue…typical for our town, where most people come when everything is almost over. It was Ok, I guess, but thankfully the place was packed by the time PTK took the stage and they had a great show, with people in costumes stage diving. After the show there was a birthday party planned by David, a friend of ours, so me and PTK guys went there. In spare time I play in a Bad religion cover band with my friends and the plan was to have a basement show at David´s house, but it ended soon, for most were too drunk to play. A beer or two later we went back to the venue to load the gear in the van and drove back to Neco´s house.

Part 7: 5th March: Beltinci and Vienna airport

The days have gone by fast and we couldn´t believe it was the last day of the tour already. Thanks to our friend Dragan, we booked a show at Ambasada in the town of Beltinci. We´ve played there before on Got Punk? Tour with Harry and Tug of war and we had left with fond memories of that evening. We departed after lunch in a sunny afternoon. It was quite a long way to the venue and we arrived there early again. Proffa suggested we go to a local pub where he has been before, so we went there to have a few drinks. Dragan and others cooked a tasty pasta and soon all was gone. It was really cold in the venue so we plugged all the heaters in the backstage and stayed there to keep ourselves warm. We reflected on the days past and agreed that we have to do something like this again. There were no other bands in the line-up today so we started later. I loved how everything sounded on the stage this night and the show was very good, although there was less people than I expected. PTK were on fire too, and the audience was enjoying the music. Most of us went to sleep soon after the show, but Proffa, Neco, Jani and Eppu stayed for the »to-drunk-to-play« jam session and further drinking.

In the morning we woke up early, because we had to go to Vienna airport, where PTL guys had a plane to catch. We had to return the van the same day so we left early, which meant that PTK had to wait at the airport a few hours for their evening flight (sorry about that amigos). We really enjoyed their company in those ten days and we became really good friends…saying goodbye was quite difficult and a bit emtional. But we know we will meet again soon and rock the europe together. We had a long drive back home and arrived safely with great memories and new friendships.

We would like to thank Alex, Eppu, Tero and Antti, all the promoters who helped us (Heino and the rest of the Soey and Wiener Neustadt crew, Stanley at Stanley promotion for the royal treatment, Thomas in Prague for a great show end Lenka for delicious food, Peter and the sound engineer at Menza pri koritu, KAŠ crew and Dragan for helping us out). Also thanks to all of you who came to our shows and supported us in any way!

It´s about time for some up-date after a long and busy summer. We accommodated really well to being a four member band and we are more motivated than ever. Right now we are writing new songs for the second album and the ideas and riffs are coming to us effortlessly and we are more than half way through to finishing the songs. The songs are definitelly different to what we were doing before and we can´t wait to record them and share them with you. Hopefully we will enter the studio soon after the new year and than hit the road again to play as many concerts as possible.

Many of you know that we also book gigs in our hometown (RLV Booking). Well considering that recording an album and printing CDs isn´t cheap we will minimize the amount of gigs we do to save money, but after that we will resume to do as much as possible to help other bands out.

That´s it for now!
Cheers, RLV.

Hey, here is a short update from Real Life Version camp. Although it might not seem so, we have been working really hard in the last few months. As you may already know we have been without lead vocalist since the end of the summer, but instead of finding a new singer we jumped right in and started learning to sing and play our instruments at the same time (not easy at first). We have been writing new material and re-learned a few old songs, but we will mainly focus on new songs in the future, with different songs from the first album thrown in from time to time. We have been postponing the recording process of our new album, reasons being that we still have to write two more songs, but mainly because we want to take our time and do everything right (our philosphy is that every song we write goes on the album, we don´t make a bunch of songs and then choose the good ones).

Knowing that the best way to progress and learn is to play in front of the live audience we will do just that. We are going on tour with our finnish friends Part Time Killer from 24th February – 5th March. The tour will include gigs in Czech Republic, Italy and Slovenia, you can check the tour dates on our website. Every feedback from you is welcome!Plans for the future are as stated earlier, to record the second album and then play gigs whenever we have free time and hopefully do a scandinavian tour when the time is right.

That´s all folks!

We haven´t given you any update for a while and we have an announcement to make. Unfortunatelly, Jernej is no longer a singer of Real Life Version. First we must say, that we are really grateful for the last three, four years we basically lived together, all the gigs we played and the days we spent together in the smelly tour-van. This wasn´t an easy decision for any of us, but it was the only solution we could see. There isn´t any nasty shit behind this, we are still great friends we have been for many years, but we have different goals with this band and different priorities in life. We are now four band members and have been practicing our asses off, working on the vocals. We plan to carry on in this line-up, unless we stumble upon someone who we think could contribute to the band.

For some reason we feel very motivated right now and it shows in the new songs we are working on at the moment. We plan to woodshed throughout the summer and work on vocals and the new album, which should be recorded this year. Also expect new merchandise later in the year.

We don´t plan to have any gigs during the summer in order to concentrate on rehearsing and working on new songs, but we plan a tour together with our finnish friends Part Time Killer in autumn/winter. We are really looking forward to ripping it up with hose guys. THe tour will be postponed to november, the dates will be announced shortly!

All the best,

I wasn´t sure if I would write this blog, but I wanted to share the memories with others and have something written down to remind ourselves of all the nice (and not so nice) things that happended to us on this tour. The tour lasted from March 5th-21st and this time I decided to start booking way ahead (in september) to try and book all the dates. If you are bored fell free to read about our rock´n´roll-isms on our journey through Europe.

Day 1: 5.3. E20 Underground, Montecchio Maggiore (ITA):

For some reason, all our previous tours started at a location that was at least 1000 kilometres away, so this was something refresing, for we had only a few hundred kms to drive. We gathered at our rehearsing place in early afternoon and started loading all the gear. Yet again, we brought way to much luggage with us and we barely fitted everything in the van – we definatelly went level up in our tetris skills! There was an obligatory group picture with Neco´s father Hill and we had a toast with 18(+1) year old whiskey that we recieved as a gift at our release party last year. After arranging some last minute paper work and health insurance we departed towards Vicenza. It was really strange for us not to be driving to the first gig at night (see the first sentence), so I didn´t get that touring vibe yet. We arrived at the E20 Undergroung club early and we had time to relax a bit. The club was huge, easily a 500+ venue, so we hoped lots people would show up. The promoter was our friend Enri from the band Argetti and it was nice seeing him again and cathing up. They prepared us a really delicious dinner and gave us lots of good italian beer! We played with two other bands, Creesyvegins and guys from Suncity falls, who were really nice and played a really good set. The place was filling up quickly, so we couldn´t wait to step on stage. It was a first gig for us after a few months and it wasn´t the best show in our opinion, but people liked it and we sold some CDs. After the show we chilled in the backstage and there was this funny older punk guy who was insisting to smoke some weed with him, so Neco and Jernej didn´t wait for him to ask twice. Soon this woman walks in and starts telling us that she was in Tuzla (Bosnia) and starts to talk in a broken bosnian language and asking for translations…she didn´t stop for a whole two hours and after hearing her story about her visit to Bosnia for a 100th time we couldn´t wait to escape! She was a source of many jokes for the rest of the tour. The last band to play were Creesyvegins, the locals and they had a whole squad of punks going crazy, throwin glasses and stuff. At the end of their set, the basist´s amp broke and all you could see was a puff of white smoke. Hope he can get it fixed. After the gig we said goodbye to Enri and guys from Suncity falls and went to sleep at soundguys appartment, which was huge and vacant, shower in a morning was really welcome. He told us in the morning that someone he knew destroyed the monitor speaker when the last band was playing and went to talk with him about paying for the damage.

Day 2: 6.3. La Centrale, Pisa (ITA):

We woke up early in the morning, becouse we wanted to arrive in Pisa early to see the famous leaning tower of Pisa and other monuments. We had some traffic jams on the way, but it didn´t matter as we drove through a very nice part of Italy. The view when we started descending toward Pisa was just breath-taking. We got there around 15:00 and had enough time to walk around the city. It was saturday and there were many tourists (I guess we were one ourselves:) ) and it was a bit crowded, but we enjoyed the scenery anyway. We forgot to take the footbag with us and tried to find one among all the useless memorabilia that was sold there, but had no luck! Anyway, we tried to find the venue, but our GPS was sending us to the wrong address, so we found a really friendly police officer who called his colleague who gave us the right address. We arrived at La Centrale early and went to a nearby store for some supplies (supplies=beer). The club is a really nice, cosy venue and soon the promoter Ale arrived. He is a member of a band The Hombreakers, who we helped with some show in Slovenia, but unfortunately they had to cancel them. We will certainly help them out on another occasion very soon. All the people at the club were really nice and it was great to meet Ale in person and talk to him…he is funny guy and he made sure, that there was an unlimited ammount of beer available to us throughout the evening! Awesome! We had a very delicious lasagna for dinner after the soundcheck.

This evening we played with local legends Disquieted by and they were fucking awesome. Talk about pure rock´n´roll! The singer was quite a character, he got almost naked on stage and people were just going crazy! We played next and I was afraid that people only came to support the local band, but they stayed and we played a good set. We got back into the grove again. We had a few beers after the show and I got a chance to meet Mike from Persil booking, who is booking the tour for a band City of ships and we will help them with a show in Slovenia. There was a great afterparty starting to happen with local DJs, but we had 1200 kilometres to cover in a day, so we had to leave soon after the show and drive through the night. We took a group photo and it was hard to say goodbye to our new friends and hit the road again! Thank you Pisa and Revenge events!

Day 3: 7.3. Soup´n´noise, Chanteix (FRA):

We departed from Pisa at 3:00 in the morning and we had to drive in shifts. We had to cover 1200kms so we had no choice but to drive on french highways, which are expensive as hell. There was a massive snowstorm predicted for alps and we just barely escaped the time when shit really hit the fan. Still we couldn´t avoid the snow, but luckily we got behind the snowplugs who were clearing the road for us. We got to a tunnel which leads underneath the french alps and we were amazed, that it cost 45 euros to get through!

Soon the weather went from overcast, rainy/snowy, to warm and sunny and we were so happy to arrive in Chanteix. We stopped at some parking lot near cemetery and set up our kitchen! Then this older man stops with his car and we thought that he would yell at us for stopping there, but he just wanted to show us where we can get some water! Really nice people in the french countryside. The show in Chanteix was organized by our dear friends from the band NY-Hill Stillness (R.I.P.) and we were looking forward to see Nico and Adrien again (the rest coudn´t make it, becouse they had a film premiere in Paris – would love to see the movie). We arrived at a beautiful small house and barn where they are organizing DIY shows for friends and touring bands. We played with local band called The Jackballs and they were quite good and really funny! This gig was really great, we played the best set so far and we felt so good among our friends that we wished this evening would last longer than it did.

We had a nice conversation with Adrien and Nico and we talked what happended since the last time we saw each other. They confirmed to us that NY-Hill Stillness is no more, so we hope they start some new projects soon! After the show we had a dinner and went to sleep becouse we were dead tired from a long trip. We woke up in the morning with nice breakfast waiting for us. We had a long debate about philosophy, socilology and general political climate in our countries and it was great to exchange some ideas and what was interesting was, that we agreed on so many issues. Soon we had to leave and say goodbye to our friends, hope we see you again soon!

Day 4: 8.3. Holdem Saloon, Bordeaux (FRA):

We had sunny weather and didn´t have many miles to cover, so we took our time. We avoided the highways and drove through the countryside for some sight-seeing. Our GPS led us on some very narrow roads and was starting to act up, so we had stop and find a more appropriate route. On this tour we decided to pick on drivers (we joked that we taped some Rizlas on the corners of the van and everytime someone got close to a curb or a house at the side of the road, he lost one:)). We stopped halfway to Bordeaux to have a lunch. It was beans again . Or maybe sour cabbage and beans? Anyway it felt like we were in that move Groundhog day, everytime we stopped to eat . There was this dog that looked like he was hit by a car or had a fight wiht another dog, so we couldn´t leave without feeding him too. It was a really smart dog and Neco taught him to sit in like 30 seconds. We left for Bordeaux, which turned out to be a beautiful city. We found a guitar store near the venue and bought some strings and picks. Holdem Saloon as the name suggests is a bar where you can have a game of poker and they have a small concert hall in the basement. Soon other bands started arriving, but there was no sight of the promoter. I knew there, that something wasn´t right. We found out that the guitarist of one of the bands we played with was the promoter, but nobody spoke english, so we still didn´t know what was up.

Anyway, we had a good time and had some burgers before the show. Nico told his friend Anais, who studies in Bordeaux to come check us out. It was a pleasure to meet her and we talked with her and some other people in front of the venue and missed the first band. Then, Volana the »original« promoter arrived and told us who the promoter actually was. Anyway we went downstairs to listen to the next band called Sun preachers. They played some kind of psychedelic rock and they were fucking amazing, we enjoyed listening to their set! Next were Ahimsa, who played some kind of metalcore with milion breakdowns, it wasn˝t my cup of tea, so I left to get some air. Anyway, we played last and there werent many people from the begining due to poor promotion, but those who were there really enjoyed our set and we had another great show. Well after the show we found out that we didn´t have a place to sleep and they paid us like 10 euros, so I was pissed as hell, but didn´t feel like dealing with incompetent promoters. Luckily Anais offered us a place to sleep, so we are infinately grateful for this! She lives in a students apartement and there was her roomate´s crazy cat who was just totally wild and bonkers! Anais thank you for your hospitality!

Day 5: 9.3. La Scene Michelet, Nantes (FRA):

We slept a bit longer to get some well needed rest and thanked Anais for everything. We drove through a wine region around Bordeaux and stopped for a late lunch. We arrived in Nantes quite early and had some problems finding a free parking spot near the venue. When we were driving around we heard some weird noise coming from the front wheel, but we thought it was just the breaks overheating. We played at La Scene Michelet, which is a really nice venue, one of our favourite on this tour.

Flo from Wank for peace and guys&girl from Angry days set up the show. Soon guys from Wank for peace arrived and we talked a bit before loading in the gear. Awesome people and friends! We contacted our friends Špela and Žworž who were studying in Angers and they came to see us play together with one of their french friends. It was really nice to meet some people from our hometown! First was Mad Martigan, an acoustic act, but I only cought the last few songs, but it sounded good. The guys and a girl from Angry days had a first gig this night, so it was a pleasure to play with them! We played third and the place was filling up quickly. We were very happy with our set, there was a great energy from the people and it felt awesome being on the stage. We sold a lot of merch, so it was a successful evening for us. Next were Wank for peace, who play fast melodic punk-rock and I liked their set a lot. We will be helping them with some shows in april, can´t wait to hear them play again! After the show we hung out with them and drank some beer and home made liquor that we brought with us. Jani got really drunk, with the rest not falling far behind . We had to drive to Anger to Flo´s place where we would spend the night. Soon after we started, the noise from the front wheel appeared again and it got worse and worse and we had to stop to check it there is any visible damage to the wheel. We couldn´t see anything so we decided to drive slowly and to try to fix the problem the next morning. We got at Flo´s place and partied a little with the whole crew. It got really late quick, so we had to go to bed, for we had to wake up early to try and fix the van.

Day 6: 10.3. Kingstown, Le Havre (FRA):

We were so tired the next morning that nobody heard the alarm clock. We quickly took a shower and decided to find a garage, becouse it would be the quickest way to solve the problem. Flo offered to join us to help with communication and translation. We went to 4 different garages and all were either bussy or didn´t want to help us . We decided to try and fix the problem ourselves so we found a parking lot and started taking the wheel off. Nejc dismanteled the brake and reasembled it, but we found out that it wasn´t the brakes that were the problem, but that the wheel bearing was done…..

This was a much bigger problem and we had to find a mechanic to be able to continue the tour. Flo found out the address of the official Fiat service, but we had to wait until 14:00 when the lunch time was over. We got to the garage and hoped, that they had the spare part we needed. Luckily, Flo talked to the shop manager and told him about the our situation and we were next in line. I called Bertrand, who was the promoter of the gig this day and told him what the situation was. He told me that headliners A break of day canceled the show, so we wanted to make sure we get to Le Havre anyway possible to make the show happen. It was getting quite late by now and we had 5 hour drive from Angers to Le Havre. Finally at 16:30 the van was fixed, but the bill was quite substantial and we had to cash out 300 euros for the repair. Talk about a financial blow! The guys from Wank from peace came to pick up Flo and they gave us some extra money from last nights show, which we are really grateful for. Thank you again, guys for all the help and support! We said goodbye and jumped in the van.

We had to drive on the highways to get to LH in time, which meant loosing even more money, paying the tolls. We really wanted to check out the Normandy, but we will have to do this the next time we are in the area. We arrived at the venue at almost 22:00 and the first band Eat my finger was already playing. We met with Bertrand, who was happy to see us and we were happy to see him and to be playing this night. We loaded in the guitar cabs and went to backstage to eat. Bertrand prepared a feast for us! Next band were Hellburnsaway, a good hardcore band from Caen. We were last to play and it was nice to see that people stayed and didn´t support only the local bands. In fact, the crowd went crazy during our set and it gave us an energy boost and we had another good show. After the show, Bertrand found out that his backpack was stolen, but luckily he found it a few days later. We went to his place and had a nice afterparty, drinking, having hair-cuts and listening to some great music. We had such a great time, thank you Bertrand! In the morning he prepared us breakfast, with fresh bread from a local bakery, which was delicious! After checking out some other bands and talking about music we had to go ahead to Lille. Thanks!

Day 7: 11.3. La Chimere, Lille (FRA):

We drove on the local roads to save the money, plus we got to drive through some nice areas of northern France. We were looking forward to see the guys from Fast motion, whom we helped with a show earlier in the year. They would also be playing this evening, along with Noise emission control. We were running a bit late, becouse we needed to stop to buy some supplies and my stomach was giving me some trouble on the way. We got there at around 20:00 and Greg from Fast motion was waiting for us at the club La Chimere. He showed us around the club and we brought our equipment inside. Luckily we didn´t need our backline for the night, which was a great relief for our backs. Greg told us, that there probably won´t be many people, becouse thursdays aren´t the best there, but sometimes it is better to have 20 or less people who are there for the music, than 100 who came to drink at the bar. The club was really nice, smelly, but nice . We had a tasty pasta for dinner and soon after the guys from Noise emission control stepped on stage. The played some kind of stoner rock mixed with hardcore, they were really tight and rockin. Next were Fast motion, who played another great show, although I liked them better when they played in our hometown.

You should definately check them out if you get a chance. We played last and Jernej had some problems with a soar throath, so it wasn´t the best show, but we were satisified and got to sell some CDs. After the show we had a few drinks with the bands and later went to sleep at Greg´s house. In the morning he showed his adorable pets, it was like at the zoo . We woke up early, becouse we had a ferry to catch. We are looking forward to come back to France!

Day 8: 12.3. House show, London – Lewishan (UK):

We arrived in Calais in time. We bought the ferry tickets in advance so we went through the check-in and boarder officials let us through without any problems. We have an agenda, not to have any weed in the van, so the police dogs passed us by. We embarked the ferry and were soon on the way to UK. It took us an hour and a half so we had some time to rest. When we arrived in Dover it was foggy and rainy and we were affraid that we would be cursed with typical english weather, but in the end we had sun the whole time while in UK. Anyway, talk about surprise when we got to the first roundabout. First few kilometres were really confusing, driving on the opposite side of the road. We took the highway to London and we arrived at Tommy´s house, where the show was happening. This was a last minute show and one of his roomates was celebrating his birthday on the same day, so there would be a huge party happening. We arrived at the house and meet up with Rory who sings in a band Athens Polytechnic along with Tommy. He made us an english tee and after that we went to see the London. We walked through Lewisham and it was nice to see the melting pot of different races and minorities living toghether.

We bought some tickets for the London tube and went towards Tower Gateway station. We didn´t have much time to walk around the city, so we only got to see the London brige and the Tower of London and went to a pub for some beers. On the way back, Jernej and Nejc bought some fish&chips, but it looked nasty, so we forcasted some liquid shit for the future . Anyway we got back to the house and Tommy was there too, so we talked a bit and got all the stuff ready. We cooked some of our food and soon people started arriving. We meet with our friend Domen, who would be joining us for the rest of the tour and filming a tour report for an interent TV, Vest.si. His sister and her friend were also there, while being on vacation in London. At 23:00 the show started and the house was packed! We were wondering if the police would show up, but the guys said that there shouldn´t be any problems. The first band started playing. It was more like a fist fight than a gig, it was really crazy, hardcore shit. We lent all our gear to the bands so we started worrying if it will survive in one piece. Luckily they only played 4 songs. Next were Athens Polytechnic, who played The Clash style of punk and were quite good. The crowd was wild, but at least there wasn´t any hardcore tough-guy shit happening. Well at some point some guy thought it would be a good idea to push the front row into the drums and the result was a broken tom stand. Our singer Jernej got a bit pissed and he told the guys, that that we need to resolve this right there, becouse we cant tour with broken drum stands. The guys were really fair and we agreed to take their stand and that they would buy a new one for themsleves. We were next and the show turned out great, despite all the madness! Many people approached us after the show and bought the CD and some promoters that were there told us to contact them if we ever needed shows in UK. We put the equipment back in the van to keep it safe and then the party continued. In fact the party lasted until 7 in the morning with loud disco music, so we barely had a chance to get some sleep. These english people are just crazy! The house was a mess the next day, an evidence of a wild party. We decided to leave before noon, said goodbye and went to Peterborugh for our next gig.

Day 9: 13.3. Club Revolution, Peterborough (UK):

We only had to drive 130 kilometres so we arrived at the venue quite early. Domen had a really bad hungover, paying the price of excesive drinking the previous day! We went to eat some burgers, something we ate almost everyday in England. We found out that we forgot to take the battery charger for Domen´s camera, so we went to a local shopping centre to buy one. After searching for two hours we bought an universal battery charger, which came in handy. We got back to the venue and meet up with Shaun from the band Good knives, who was the promoter. The venue was huge, with a great PA and with impressive list of bands that have already played there. Soon local bands For the fallen and another band whose name I can´t remember arrived along with Smoking hearts who were nice guys and play great music. The two local bands that played were young kids and so was the crowd who came to see them, so it felt like we played to a kindergarden …hehe, just kidding. Anyway, the first band was some generic melodic death metal, the second were much better, but still not my cup of tea. I´ve seen so many melodic death metal/metalcore bands that I get bored with them real quick. We hung out with Smoking hearts and talked about our tours and other shit. We played after them and had quite a shity show. Jernej cought a cold the day before and we had to finish the set sooner and not sleeping the day before didn´t help either. Shaun told us that he couldn´t offer us a place to sleep, but he informed us about this a few days in advance, so it wasn´t a problem. We decided to to go to a Travel Lodge and booked a room. Usually 2 or 3 of us sleep in the van, so we only needed a room for 4 people and got it cheap. Thank you Shaun for your help!

Day 10: 14.3. Alma Inn, Bolton (UK)

We slept well and were looking forward to tonights gig. We arrived in Bolton soon after having lunch on some sketchy parking lot. We walked through Bolton and ended up in a small cosy pub to drink a few beers. The feel of the town was totally different from the previous two, it had more of a working class vibe. We went to Alma Inn to meet with the promoter Cotty, who plays in a band called The Emos. There would be four bands this night, so we brought in our backline and did a quick soundcheck. The venue was quite small, but it probably had the most impressive PA of all the clubs on tour. There was this in-house soundguy who was a total gear whore and had top-notch equipment, but it was an overkill for a such small place . He was a really cool dude, who liked his music loud! First on was the singer from a band Special agent set, who played an acoustic set and I really like it. Wish there were more people to see him play, but it was still early. Next were The revenge of a psyhotronic man, playing a fast punk. Very friendly people! I totally digged the next band called Zapiain, who reminded me of Samiam and Texas is the reason and they were really nice guys too! We were the last and played much better than in Peterborough, in fact it was one of my favourite shows (the guitar sound was evil, hehe). We went to Cotty´s place after the show. He had the most inpressive collection of movies and video games i´ve ever seen! He told us that he would leave us the keys of his apartement becouse he had to leave for work early. Thanks Cotty for a great show!

Day 11: 15.3. The Fat fox, Portsmouth (UK):

We woke up into a sunny morning! It was a long drive to Portsmouth so we departed quite early. We drove through some beautiful english countryside! The promoter today was Joe, who also played with his band In the dark. We were looking forward to meet the guys from Fights&Fires who we helped with a show in our hometown in february. Joe provided us some beers and sandwiches which was a first in the english leg of the tour. We talked with Fights&Fires about their upcoming tour and about doing another gig for them. We played first this night, which was a welcome change, for we could get something to eat after the show and drink some beer. I didn´t catch the next two bands, becouse most of us were looking for something to eat. The city of Portsmouth was really beautiful, we enjoyed walking around the city.

We got back when Fights&Fires were getting ready to play. They had a great set, they played even better than at our local venue. After the show we had a few more beers and some of us got drunk again. Later we went to Joe´s place and we had problems finding a parking spot for our van. Almost an hour and a few chips of paint later we found a vacant parking lot. We had a conversation with Joe about communist political system in our former state Yugoslavia while drinking english tea.

Day 12: 16.3. The Hatchet Inn, Bristol (UK):

Off we went to Bristol. Jernej was having more and more problems with his throath and we were all a bit sick, but nothing really bad. We played in the oldest pub in Bristol in a really nice area of town. The promoter of the show was Jak, who arrived soon after we did. We drank a few beers and talked how nice it would be to sleep in our beds soon and eat our favoutite dish at home! Jak cooked a delicious spicy sauce with rice for us. It was nice to have a warm meal after a long time. We played together with a Bristol based band called Everything we left behind. They were quite good, they reminded me of Lifetime. Our soundguy Luka got a bit drunk this night, so he was useless , but we only had the vocals miced, so it wasn´t a problem to set everything to sound OK. There weren´t many people at the gig, Jak told us, that he usually promotes gigs at a different venue. We played OK, it shouldn´t matter how many people you play for, you should always give your best. After the show, Jak tried to find an accommodation for us, but unfortunately nobody had enough place for our asses. We decided to look for a hostel and drove to a few in the area, but we found out that all hostels/hotels etc. were booked, due to some horse races, that were held here the next day. We tried our luck with some hostel on the outskirts of Bristol, but when we got there it was fully booked. We didn´t have any other option but to sleep in the van, all 7 of us. Me and Jani slept in the front seats and the rest slept in the back. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences ever, but at least we got a few hours of sleep. Jernej had a soar and swollen throath the next morning, so he was worried if he would be able to sing that day.

Day 13: 17.3. Alsager arms, Stoke-on Trent (UK):

We got a message a day before from a band that we were supposed to play in Stoke, that the promoter isn´t answering their calls and that the venue is closed. Well we were really short on money, due to the expenses we had for our van, so we wanted to make sure if the show would be on or not. In the morning we decided to call her and luckily we were able to get in touch. Well, we found out that we can expect 20 pounds or so of guarantee, which wouldn´t be enough to cover a third of our expenses to get to Stoke, so we decided to cancel the show. Anyway, I called the ferry company if we can cross the channel one day before scheduled and they said it wasn´t a problem, becouse we bought a ticket with a »freedom« option. So we departed towards Dover, trying to catch the last ferry of the day.

We arrived just in time and boarded the ferry. Again we had no trouble at the boarder and a hour and a half later (or 2 and a half due to a different time zone) we were back in France and on our way to Belgium. Jani brought the Lonely planet travel book along and we tried to find a hostel in Belgium. We also called Teun, the promoter of our show in Belgium and we managed to find a cheap hostel in the city of Brugge. We arrived at the hostel like 5 minutes before closing and booked a room for 6 people. They gave us some free maps of the city and we wanted to drink a few fine belgian beers before going to bed. Nejc and Jani were looking at the map and than a friendly couple comes by and asks us if we need any help. We asked for some directions and they suggested that we go to Joey´s cafe nearby. We get to this place and the owner was cranking some old-school blues and invited us in. He was quite a character telling us jokes and we quickly got into a conversation about the music and he told us that he was a guitarist too. After some guitar talk that only us guitarists find interesting and comprehensible, Jani went to our van and brought him our CD and Mart´s CD, which is a band that Jani and Nejc are part of. We listened to the music and drank beers until he had to close the cafe. He looks at all the beer bottles and says, ah…I am only gonna charge you half of those, leave out that tea that you ordered. We were like…how nicer and hospitable can a person be! When we were leaving he gave each of us a bottle of Duvel on top for free. We will definately be returning to his place! You just gotta love Belgium. We get back to the hostel, far from being sober and get in the room. I will just say, that I hope other guests don´t hate us .

Day 14: 18.3. JH de Choke, Herselt (BEL):

We woke up in the morning and walked around the beautiful city of Brugge. After a quick snack we decided to head towards Herselt to the venue called JH de Choke. We played here in december with Harry and we were really looking forward to meet the promoter Teun (check out his band Break of day, they are amazing) and to see our friends Griet and Jeroen who always treat us like kings. Herselt is a small town, but the city centre was closed due to some construction work, so we had some problems getting to the venue. After we arrived we went to the local bar where we had been the first time and it felt like home. Friends, belgian beer, nice people, what more can you ask for. We got back before getting drunk and there were some familiar faces already there. We were offered to join in for BBQ and some beers which we gladly accepted. Soon Teun, Griet and Jeroen showed up and we were so happy to see them again! Unfortunately the headliners Citizens patrol couldn´t make it so it was us and two bands, The sex toys and another one whose name I can´t recall.

Unfotruntately there wasn´t many people, but it didn´t matter, becouse we enjoyed the company of good friends. Luka was drunk and useless again and Jernej had a really bad throath. He went to see a doctor earlier in the afternoon and recieved some medicine which had a label with death on it, so it must have been some nasty stuff, but it seemed to help. Anyway after the show we went to Griet and Jeroen´s house and we were wormly welcomed by their family, who are the nicest people you can meet. I went to bed, becouse I was dead tired, but unfortunately I missed the afterparty with beer and 18(+1) year old whiskey. Damn it! Anyway, we woke in the morning and the breakfast was waiting for us. It was a breakfast that would put a five star hotel to shame, it is amazing how well they treat everytime we come there. We had to leave quite early becouse we had a long drive through Germany. We really hope we get a chance to return you all a favour, hope to see you again soon!

Day 15: 19.3. Die Danz, Regensburg (GER):

We had a long trip ahead of us, so we wanted to minimize the number of pit-stops…hard to do when you buy a case of beer and plan to drink on the way . There were like 5 or 6 accidents on the way to Regensburg and we knew we would arrive late, so we sent a text message to the promoter Ursi about the situation. We arrived at the place and were greeted by some lovely people who lived at this house. This was basically a house where ten students lived and they had a small venue in the basement where they do monthly gigs. Some of our favourite bands played there before and also some of our friends like Kennybal Smith so we were stoked about playing there too. We met the lovely promoter of the show Ursi who showed us around the house.

They prepared us a very delicious dinner, which was a blessing for our hungry stomachs. We meet with the band Just be alive who played with us and we all carried the equipment from the van to the basement. The place was small, but the atmosphere was great. Just be alive were great, they reminded me of Converge mixed with old-school hardcore bands. We were up next and I think we had a really good show, we definately prefer smaller venues! Unfortunately some people had to leave toward the end of the set to catch the last bus to the city. All in all it was a great gig. Luka got drunk again and had to puke at some point which almost never happens. When it got late we went to bed and the cat that lived in the house sneaked onto our sleeping bags . In the morning we took a shower and had another delicious breakfast. We went to check out the Regensburg city centre which is UNESCO heritage site and it was worth our time. After a quick lunch we headed toward Zwiesel.

Day 16: 20.3. Jugendcafe, Zwiesel (GER):

I slept on the way to Zwiesel and when I woke up there was snow all around us. We arrived at the venue early, but people were already there, preparing everything for the concert. We meet with our friends Marcus and Hainer, who were promoting the show (you guys rock! ). Hainer played with his two bands Driving the salt and Bridges left burning at our venue in december. You should definately check them out! We had a chance to play some table football, it was probably the best board we had a chance to play on (this is our choice of leisure on tour and we only had a chance to play football on the last three gigs). It was really nice to see how many young people and kids were there, helping out and waiting to see the bands. Talk about a good, developing scene. In our town you only have a small group of people who support our efforts, the rest are a bunch of smartasses who would like to see us fail at our efforts to keep the local scene alive. Anyway, we had a tasty pasta for dinner and unlimited amount of drinks available to us. The place filled up nicely and we couldn´t wait to get on stage for our last gig of the tour. We played with locals Lost in confusion who were good, but I thought their set was too long. We played next and I think this was one of the best gigs on tour. We gave 150 percent and were soaked in sweat at the end. A few more gigs like this and our guitars would be a pile of splinters . We sold a bunch of merchandise, and meet so many nice people which is one of the greatest parts of touring. We slept at the venue and Marcus and another friend of his stayed with us to party. Hainer gave us the keys to the place, becouse we had to leave early in the morning, so we would lock the door when leaving. We thanked him for everything and hopefully we will meet again soon. Jernej scored some weed and Jani, Neco and Luke played some tennis table. Nobody realised, but the morning came too soon and we barely got any sleep before leaving for home.

We arrived in Vipava at three in the afternoon and we got a big welcoming party . We were happy to be at home in one peace, sorrounded with friends and family. It was time to unload the van for the last time (there record was 7 minutes if you really want to know this irrelevant information ) and head home. It was a great experience to share the van, farts, garbage and stinky socks with friends and it definately made us stronger as a band. Can´t wait for the october tour, in the meantime we plan to finish the songs for a second CD.

We would like to thank every promoter, band and everyone that came to the concert. You know who you are!
